PIEVE DI CAMPOLI

Tradition, ethics and innovation in the heart of Tuscany

Founded in 1985 at the initiative of the Diocesan Institute for the Support of the Clergy of Florence, Pieve di Campoli was established with a clear mission: to recover and enhance the agricultural lands of the Archdiocese while simultaneously creating income and opportunities for the local community. This vision is still at the core of the company’s operations today, rooted in values that place people and the land at the center—summed up in the motto: “The Person. At the Center.” This ethical approach is reflected in daily choices: the recovery of abandoned or degraded lands, the use of sustainable, low- impact farming practices, and a continuous investment in the training and development of the people involved in the project. Today, the company manages over 50 hectares of vineyards across the Chianti and Chianti Classico regions, alongside approximately 18,000 olive trees.

The land is the true protagonist of Pieve di Campoli’s production. The vineyards, located across seven municipalities in the province of Florence, lie within the prestigious Chianti and Chianti Classico DOCG areas. The diversity of soils, altitudes, and exposures creates a mosaic of microclimates, forming a valuable foundation for quality and identity. Each zone contributes its own character: Cortine offers mineral-rich soils and cool nights for slow ripening; San Casciano Val di Pesa, with Vigna Agnola, benefits from thermal excursions and southeast exposure for aromatic intensity; San Donato in Poggio’s breezy hills support late harvesting; while Campoli, a strategic area for the estate, features complex soils ideal for Sangiovese. This pedoclimatic richness enables Pieve di Campoli to fine-tune grape variety and clone selection, crafting wines that express the unique geology and personality of each site. A symbol of Pieve di Campoli’s philosophy, the Cortine line has its roots in the medieval hamlet of the same name, where some vines over 50 years old still contribute to the Riserva and Gran Selezione labels. Situated in the UGA of San Donato in Poggio, the area features clay-schist and sandy clay soils, with elevations ideal for high-quality viticulture. Sangiovese is the main variety, alongside Trebbiano, Canaiolo, Malvasia, and Merlot, grown using cordone speronato and the traditional Tuscan capovolto training systems. These wines are celebrated for their structure, elegance, and aging potential—expressing a deep connection to their terroir.

Pieve di Campoli is increasingly turning to international markets, with China identified as a key strategic opportunity. The company offers Asian consumers wines from the historic Chianti and Chianti Classico DOCG areas—authentic Tuscan expressions with a distinctive story rooted in ecclesiastical heritage and sustainable farming. The wines’ elegant, balanced profiles—featuring soft tannins, ripe fruit, spices, and toasted notes— resonate with the refined and evolving tastes of the Asian market. Its extra virgin olive oil also stands out for its hand harvesting, immediate pressing, and attention to micro-terroirs.

Pieve di Campoli’s sustainability efforts, certified by VIVA, reflect a strong commitment to environmentally and socially responsible farming. The company aims to secure a steady presence among premium importers, promote authentic Tuscan terroir, and educate consumers through tastings, masterclasses, and focused digital storytelling.
