Tradition, fire-grilled meat & homemade pasta
Located in Greve in Chianti, at the gateway to the world- famous Tuscan wine region, Gallo Nero – Ristorante & Enoteca offers an authentic and deeply rooted culinary experience where tradition, fire, and craftsmanship come together. This is not just a restaurant, but a true journey into the flavors and culture of Tuscany. At Gallo Nero, pasta is a daily ritual.
Fresh pasta is handmade every day using a traditional method passed down from “Nonna Duilia”, preserving the authenticity and soul of Tuscan home cooking. From rich wild boar pappardelle to stuffed ravioli inspired by classic Tuscan recipes, every dish reflects a deep respect for heritage while maintaining a refined and modern touch. One of the restaurant’s highlights is its famous grilled meat selection, known locally as “ciccia”.
Here, meat is cooked over an open oak wood fire, giving it a distinctive aroma and intense flavor that defines true Tuscan cuisine. Guests can enjoy premium cuts such as steaks, tagliata, fillet, roasted cockerel, and the legendary Bistecca alla Fiorentina, a symbol of Tuscany’s culinary identity and a must-try for meat lovers visiting the region. While deeply rooted in tradition, the kitchen also embraces creativity.
Gallo Nero blends classic Tuscan recipes with innovative interpretations, such as its signature dish inspired by Florence street cuisine, reimagining traditional flavors like lampredotto and tripe in a contemporary style. The menu offers a rich selection of traditional dishes, starting from Tuscan appetizers such as beef tartare with truffle and Parmesan cream, artichoke flan with cheese fondue, and mixed cured meats from Cinta Senese, one of the region’s most prized local products. As an enoteca, Gallo Nero also celebrates the culture of wine, offering carefully selected Tuscan labels that perfectly pair with the menu.
Cooking Experiences with Chef Davide Boidi
For those who want a deeper culinary experience, Gallo Nero also organizes cooking classes in small groups led by Chef Davide Boidi. Guests are invited to spend a few hours learning how to prepare traditional Tuscan dishes, including pasta, focaccia, main courses, and desserts. At the end of the experience, participants enjoy the meal they have prepared, accompanied by a selection of Tuscan wines. These classes are perfect for birthdays, bachelor parties, or corporate team-building events.
