RISTORANTE IN BORGOVICO

A world of flavors in a timeless setting

Entering our restaurant means stepping into a place that tells a story. It is a family-run restaurant, born and shaped over time, where hospitality is simple and genuine. Our relationship with our guests is direct and attentive, yet always leaving them free to enjoy the experience in their own way—quietly, or with a few more words, if they wish.

The restaurant is arranged over three dining rooms and is characterized by an atmosphere that recalls the past. The ancient medieval stone walls, the Moltrasio marble floor, and the delicately cream-colored walls all help create a warm and intimate setting. At the entrance, guests are welcomed by a large archway, while the ceiling, illuminated by small lights, evokes the simple and evocative atmosphere of an old village.

The walls are decorated with tools and objects collected during various travels, elements that over time have helped shape the restaurant’s identity. These are personal memories that contribute to a rich, lived-in environment where the meeting of different cultures can be felt. This openness is also reflected in our clientele: the restaurant is frequented by many tourists, who find here a reliable spot during their stay.

The location is one of our strengths. We are situated in the Lake Como area, about five minutes from the stadium and the lake itself, in Via Borgo Vico Vecchia, one of the most characteristic streets in the city. It is a lively street filled with small shops, hotels, restaurants, and cafés, just a short walk from Como San Giovanni train station. Stepping out of the station and walking only a few meters brings you into this authentic part of the city.

Our cuisine is predominantly Mediterranean, designed to offer a wide and accessible selection. Alongside some local dishes, the menu includes seafood and meat options that reflect the most well-known and appreciated idea of Italian cuisine, especially among international visitors. There are also clear references to the local area, such as perch risotto, alongside dishes inspired by other traditions, like Catalan-style octopus salad.

A large part of the menu is dedicated to first courses, with various types of pasta and risottos. One particularly appreciated feature is the possibility of ordering risotto even for just one person. Among the options are Monza- style risotto with saffron and sausage, truffle-filled girasoli, tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms—available fresh depending on the season—and tagliolini with wild boar ragù, a dish rooted in Lombard tradition.

Main courses include sea fish dishes such as mixed fried seafood, as well as simpler options suitable for children, like chicken cutlet with French fries. Upon request, basic dishes such as spaghetti with tomato sauce or plain pasta are always available. For guests following a vegetarian diet, the menu offers simple solutions such as large salads, cherry tomato bruschetta, and selected pasta dishes.

Among the most popular dishes are the cozze alla torero, mussels prepared with a tomato-based sauce that makes them especially appreciated by regular customers. As for meat, guests can choose between sliced steak and grilled French beef fillet, served with various accompaniments: from green pepper sauce to porcini mushrooms, or more classic versions with rocket, Grana cheese, and cherry tomatoes.

Desserts include several homemade preparations, such as crema catalana, panna cotta served with different toppings, tiramisu, and a shortcrust tarte tatin with apples and pears, served warm with vanilla ice cream.

Pizza also plays an important role. The menu offers around forty varieties, suitable for different tastes, from vegetarian options to richer combinations. Among the most popular are the Tris, which combines three different flavors, and some special “borgo” pizzas with buffalo mozzarella or pesto. Pizzas can also be served on a wooden board, a choice that makes the dough thinner while preserving its characteristics.

The wine list is entirely Italian and includes labels from various regions. The selection is completed by both craft and classic beers. The staff is made up of people from different backgrounds, reflecting the idea of an open and welcoming place, in harmony with the diversity of its clientele.

Our goal is to offer a place where guests can enjoy good food and feel at ease, in a simple, well-cared-for, and authentic setting, where everyone can find their own space and their own time.
